Former four-star safety prospect Deon Jones is coming to Boston College. The Maryland native is transferring from the University of Maryland after two playing seasons. Starting six games at safety this past year, he tallied 34 tackles, one pass breakup, and a forced fumble. In 2018, he appeared in 11 games and recorded 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble. Jones has a relationship with new BC defensive backs coach Aazaar, who coached the same group during his time at Maryland.

At 6’1, 196 pounds, Jones was a highly regarded recruit that chose the Terps over offers from Clemson, Florida State, Penn State, among others. He entered Maryland coming off a torn-ACL and ended up redshirting the season. He will have two years of eligibility remaining with this graduate transfer. This is a great get for the Eagles’ secondary.

Welcome to the Heights, Deon!
