Onwuka hails from Maryland and actually spent a year at Junior College prior to walking-on at UB. He was on the wrestling team at Niagra Community College, but turned that into a solid career with the Bulls. He will be coming on as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining. Onwuka is listed at 6-0, 290 pounds.
Starting 13 games this past season, he racked up 43 tackles (eight for loss), 3.5 sacks (including one against Penn State), two quarterback hurries, and was honored with a third-team All-MAC selection. He helped lead the Bulls to their first-ever bowl win against Charlotte in the Bahamas Bowl 31-9. Over the course of three seasons, he totaled six sacks and 68 tackles.
Welcome to the Heights (eventually), Chibueze!
