Well BC had off on Friday night, let’s check in on the out of town scoreboard and OH MY GOD UCONN ACTUALLY WON THIS IS NOT A DRILL Y’ALL THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Off UConn’s victory over UMass Amherst on Friday, BC has clinched a share of the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the Hockey East tournament. Not only that, BC can win the title outright with one point over the next three games. That’s right, because the most any other team can get is 30 points, which is where BC is right now, all BC needs is one measly point to win the Hockey East regular season championship outright.

What better way to do it than against BC’s most ancient rival, Boston University?

BU has a whooooole lot more to play for right now. BU’s chances of getting an at-large bid are statistically insignificant, and have a chance to fall out of the Hockey East tournament altogether.

What better way to get revenge for the Beanpot than putting a nail in the BU coffin?

Let’s break it down.

Previewing The Boston University Game

  1. Finish. Your. Chances: There are a lot of things I can mention about this game, perhaps about not taking dumb penalties, or Spenser Knight needing to be good against BU, or rattling a statistically average goaltender in Sam Tucker, or anything I really come up with. But I think the crux of all of that comes down to finishing chances. BC had a number of really solid chances in the Beanpot semifinal, and BC controlled a lot of the game, and had the shot attempt numbers to back it up. Yet the Eagles couldn’t close out. BU is going to playing for its life on Saturday, and while BC would certainly want to improve its Pairwise standing and clinch the regular season title, it is hard to dispute that BU has a lot more riding on each shift than BC. Close out on chances, and don’t keep BU around.

Random, Possibly Incorrect Fact from Boston University’s Wikipedia Page

BU is an accredited university.

Beverage of the Game

Absolutely no nonsense y’all. Get the job done.

This is going to be a doggone slugfest. I think BC gets its point to clinch, but that’s it. I think it’s going to be a 3-3 tie. That said, I do think this is a different BC team right now. The fact that Matt Boldy is currently going off is a bit of a wrinkle. We shall see.
