It’s a really good time to be the Boston College Eagles.

The Eagles have all but mathematically clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles control their own destiny to win the Hockey East regular season championship, and can clinch the championship this weekend. It’s a good time to be an Eagle.

That said, the Eagles still need to take care of business this weekend. Let’s break it down.

Clinching Scenarios

If BC beats Merrimack:

BC clinches the No. 2 seed in the tournament, and will clinch the No. 1 seed if UMass Amherst loses to UConn.

If BC ties Merrimack:

BC clinches at least the No. 5 seed in the tournament, and can clinch as high as the No. 2 seed if UMass Lowell loses to New Hampshire and Maine loses or ties Providence

If BC loses to Merrimack:

Pain. But, also, BC can still clinch home ice this weekend based on a bunch of scenarios.

Breaking Down the Series

  1. Get More Pressure On Net: Despite the Eagles putting up a touchdown up on Merrimack a couple of Saturdays ago, the Eagles actually attempted a staggeringly low amount of shots in the game. Jere Huhtamaa had a bad day at the office for Merrimack so the low amount of attempts did not manifest into anything too bad, but it’s still a concern. The Eagles should not rely on Huhtamaa having another .750 night, and generate more chances.
  2. Killer Instinct: This is Merrimack’s last game of the season. Merrimack cannot make the Hockey East tournament. This all means that for the graduating seniors, this it it. Don’t keep them in the game, quash them early.
  3. Matt Boldy: Just keep doing your thing buddy. You’re doing juuuust fine.

Random, Possibly Incorrect Fact from Merrimack’s Wikipedia Page

Seriously, my high school’s Wikipedia page is almost as long as Merrimack’s.

Barley and Hops Based Alcoholic Beverage of the Game

Moosehead Lager

There are many great things in life. One of those great things is cheap Canadian beer.

I think BC ends Merrimack’s season with a loss. 5-1 will be the score.
