In a truly chaotic and back and forth game, the Boston College men’s hockey team beat the Northeastern Huskies at Matthews Arena 3-2, earning their 20th win of the season.
Matt Filipe got Northeastern on the board first with a wraparound goal 2:08 into the first period. The rest of the period was incredibly back and forth as both teams traded chances and penalties, BC taking two to Northeastern’s one. Finally, 18:42 into the period, Julius Mattila got the Eagles on the board with a shot that made it through Craig Pantano’s pads, tying the game up at 1 leading into the second period.
BC completely dominated the second period, outshooting the Huskies 18-6 in the frame. The Eagles had a flurry of chances in front of the Northeastern net multiple times, but weren’t able to actually find the back of the net. That changed 10:45 into the period, when Marshall Warren cleaned up a loose puck in the crease, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead. BC then took a penalty - but while on the kill, Northeastern took a penalty of their own, leading to some 4-on-4 hockey. With around 4 minutes left in the period, Julius Mattila and Logan Hutsko broke away for a 2-on-1, Mattila finding the back of the net off a fabulous feed from Hutsko to get his second goal of the night.

The third period started off less favorably for the Eagles - Northeastern scored 6:47 into the period, bringing them back within a goal. The Huskies pressured for much of the period, but Spencer Knight made numerous saves to preserve the one goal lead, including this massive kick save.

At the end, the Eagles were able to stave off any Northeastern attack and came away with a massive road win.
