Five points separate first place in the league and being on the outside looking in the Hockey East tournament.

Fortunately for the Boston College Eagles, they are on the top side of that spectrum, maintaining a tenuous hold on first place by virtue of a tiebreaker. But, at this point, every game, every point matters.

The Eagles have a huge series against Northeastern this weekend. Let’s break it down.

  1. Road Warriors: Northeastern has been far better at Matthews Arena than on the road, maintaining a near perfect record at home and below .500 on the road. With BC coming in Matthews is sure to be rocking. It’s not the first hostile building BC has played in this year, but it certainly comes at a pivotal moment in the season. BC needs to play its game and take the crowd out early.
  2. Force Mistakes: Craig Pantano has been solid all year in net for the Huskies, and he will be critical to the Huskies’ efforts. The Eagles need to force mistakes by the Huskies’ net-minder. One way to do that is…
  3. Dominate Possession: The Huskies are not a good possession team, and if the Eagles, a far better possession team, can exploit that, it could lead to positive results.
  4. Tyler Madden: We would be remiss if we didn’t mention that Tyler Madden, who is fourth in the country in points, is going to be out as he nurses a hand injury that he got against UMass Lowell on Friday. That’s a huge loss for the Huskies.

Whaaaaaaaat???? A drink y’all could actually buy north of the Mason-Dixon? What has gotten into me?

I had this during my visit up to Boston last weekend. This goes down reaaal smooth. It’s more expensive, but well well worth it.

Give me a series split. Huskies win Thursday 3-2, Eagles win 4-1 Friday.
