In Sunday’s win over NC State, BC once again demonstrated their ability to bounce back from a loss and did so with a strong performance. BC’s lead was never large but they fought tooth and nail to either maintain the lead or regain it. The win also put BC back into the .500 club for the season. One more and the Eagles will also be .500 in conference as well, with a chance to move into 5th place in the ACC (with some help). To get that next win, BC will have to go into Charlottesville and upset the Cavaliers once again. The bad news for BC is that UVA is 11-3 at home this season.

Previewing the Cavaliers
Virginia followed up their loss to BC on 1/7/20 by losing 3 out of 4 but since then they have won 5 out of 6 which included a win over then top 5 Florida State (their one loss came to then #5 Louisville). The Cavaliers record may have changed but Virginia’s play-style hasn’t. The Cavaliers are only scoring 56.8 points per game, the worst average in the ACC, only shooting 40.7% from the field and 29.2% from beyond the arc (both ranked 2nd worst in conference). It is the opposite story on the opposite side of the ball as UVA leads conference in scoring defense only allowing 52 points per game. In fact, UVA is 11-0 this season when they hold opponents under 50 points. This is the same game-plan that has worked for coach Tony Bennett and it was the one that won the Cavaliers a championship, and it will be the one BC has to contend with Wednesday night.
Player to Watch
Braxton Key. Key was Virginia’s key performer against the Eagles on that night in January with 16 points and eight rebounds. On the season, Key has been averaging 9.7 points per game (in only 21 games), 3rd best on the team, and leads the team in rebounds with 7.2 and steals with 1.5. Key also helps out in ball movement and is 2nd on the team in assists.
How Does BC Win?
Play Fast and Furious. Against a team that likes to slow things down and play suffocating defense, the Eagles need to find a way to jump out to an early lead like they did in their first meeting with the Cavaliers. An early lead will force Virginia to play an uncharacteristic style of basketball which will lead to mistakes and easier scoring opportunities for the Eagles.
