The BC Women’s Lacrosse team won their home opener this afternoon, beating the Vanderbilt Commodores 15-12.
Vanderbilt opened the scoring 3 minutes into the first half off a goal by Brianne Gross. BC then scored three unanswered goals. With a 3-1 lead however, BC gave up four straight goals, falling behind to Vanderbilt 5-3 before scoring three more unanswered ones to take a 6-5 lead into the intermission.
The second half started off back and forth, with both teams tying the game up and trading the lead at various times. With 16:21 left in the half though, the Eagles scored six unanswered goals and took a lead they wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the afternoon. Vanderbilt scored two goals at the very end to cut the lead close, but weren’t able to catch up.
Cara Urbank had two hat tricks to propel BC to the win. Jenn Medjid scored three goals, Jordan Lappin and Hollie Schleicher scored two each, and Annie Walsh and Charlotte North scored one each.
The Eagles will head out west next week to take on #16 USC on Friday, February 21 at 6PM.
