The Eagles jumped out to an early 8-2 lead today, but an 8-2 run at the end of the first quarter sent UNC into the second ahead 15-14. The Eagles wouldn’t stay down for long however, as Cameron Swartz put BC back up with a 3 pointer just 17 seconds into the second quarter. UNC kept things close, but BC took a 3 point lead into halftime with a 36-33 score.
The Eagles began to really dominate late in the second half, thanks to an 8-2 run starting with 2:30 to play in the third quarter and building up a 12 point lead. UNC started the scoring in the final 10 minutes of play with a pair of jumpers, but BC never let them build a real comeback attempt and continued scoring to ultimately earn the win by 18 points.
The Eagles dominance came in no small part thanks to stellar shooting today. BC shot at an impressive 55.6%, including going 7-for-16 from behind the arc. Shooting accuracy continues to be a major area in which Joanna Bernabei-McNamee’s influence as a coach can be seen with this team.
On an individual level Taylor Soule earned yet another double-double, her eighth of the season, with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Soule made 11 of her 13 shot attempts today and was 7-for-10 on free throws. Marnelle Garraud (17), Emma Guy (14), and Makayla Dickens (12) also scored in the double digits today.
Next up, BC will take on Pittsburgh at Conte Forum this Thursday. BC will also be celebrating Baldwin’s birthday at the game!
