The Boston College Men’s Hockey team will be strengthening its backend next semester, as former Yale defenseman Jack St. Ivany finalized his transfer to the program. He entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this year, after news of the Ivy League cancelling all winter sports due to the ongoing pandemic. While it was reported a month ago that he would head to BC for the rest of his college career, it wasn’t confirmed until earlier today.
St. Ivany is a fourth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, going 112th overall in 2018. Last year, he scored one goal and 15 assists in 32 games as a sophomore. Prior to that, as a freshman, he had six goals and eight assists in 30 games.
He was also a top-pairing defenseman at Yale, so it’s likely St. Ivany will be playing a huge role on the Eagles’ defense this year. He will also be eligible immediately, which means he’ll be able to make his debut as an Eagle at the Jan. 8 game against Northeastern (hopefully).
Welcome to BC!
