In a sad but not surprising turn of events, it was officially announced today that the Beanpot Tournament will not be happening this season due to COVID-19 and the 69th Beanpot will instead be played in 2022. Not nice! Although the attached tweet only references the men’s Beanpot, it appears that the women’s Beanpot is being cancelled as well.

Boston College will still meet Northeastern and Boston University during the regular season since all 3 teams play in Hockey East, but the Eagles won’t face the out of conference Harvard Crimson at all in 2020-21.

This is the first time that the Beanpot has not been played since its inception.

On the men’s side, the Eagles have won 20 Beanpot titles, most recently in 2016. This includes a 5 year winning streak from 2010-2014. The women’s team has won 8 times, most recently in 2018.

Both Boston College ice hockey teams are set to begin their seasons this Friday against UNH.
