Incoming freshman center Colby Ambrosio has been drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 4th round of the 2020 NHL Draft, going 118th overall. He was chosen just 2 spots after fellow BC freshman Eamon Powell, who went to Tampa Bay at 116. He joins fellow Eagles Drew Helleson and Alex Newhook as an Avs prospect.
Last year, Ambrosio scored 26 goals and 24 assists for a total of 50 points in 48 games with the Tri-City Storms of the USHL before the season was cut short by the pandemic. While undersized at 5’9”, he’s known for his strong skating ability and speed. He’s also dangerous on the rush and can control the puck in the neutral zone to generate successful zone entries.
Whenever the 2020-21 college hockey season starts, he likely will be starting off with limited minutes as he adjusts to the NCAA and will grow into a bigger role as he develops during his time at BC.
Congratulations to the newest Av!
