The Boston College women’s volleyball team dropped their first two matches of the season over the weekend, falling twice to Louisville. The Eagles stole the third set on Saturday night but fell 3-1 after a 3-0 sweep on Friday night.

Saturday night saw the far more competitive of the two matches, with BC pushing Louisville in the first set before falling 25-21. The Cardinals looked to take a second sweep after winning the second set 25-14, but BC pushed back and won the third set in intense fashion 28-26. The Eagles couldn’t push it any further, however, as Louisville closed out the weekend sweep with a 25-16 win in the fourth and final set.

Friday night’s season opener went a bit rougher for BC, as Louisville took the match 3-0 and won rather convincingly. After a competitive first set that the Cardinals took 25-19, the Eagles dropped sets 2 and 3 by scores of 25-16 and 25-9 respectively.

It was a tough weekend for BC, taking two losses against a good Louisville team in two nights. They’ll look to bounce back next weekend with two more ACC games, this time traveling on the road to take on Pitt on Friday and Saturday night.
