A very important and very correct guide to what movie you should watch this Halloween based on your favorite BC team.
(Disclaimer: I did not actually like all of these movies! But if it is a movie I didn’t like, it is a movie I know other people did like!)
If football is your favorite team, you should watch Halloween. You like what is popular and you know that usually things are popular for a reason.
If men’s basketball is your favorite team, you should watch The Birds because watching someone get attacked by birds has similar vibes to subjecting yourself to being a BC MBB fan in recent years.
If women’s basketball is your favorite team you should watch Get Out. You like your entertainment to be socially conscious. (Also you have good taste.)
If men’s hockey is your favorite team, you should watch The Covenant because a Massachusetts prep school with warlocks is the closest thing horror has to hockey (besides Jason).
If women’s hockey is your favorite team, you should watch Hocus Pocus because you probably enjoy the same things as our resident WIH superfan, Grant.
If baseball is your favorite team, you should watch Midsommar. Much like baseball, some people might think it goes on for too long, but you have the patience for it.
If softball is your favorite team, you should watch The Craft. A classic Halloween girl power team-up.
If cross country or track & field is your favorite team, you should watch Happy Death Day. A fun twist on the slasher genre that still includes lots and lots of running away from masked killers.
If fencing is your favorite team, you should watch Freddy vs. Jason. Man with a machete fighting man with knife fingers feels like the horror movie equivalent of fencing.
If field hockey is your favorite team you should watch Relic. Some people might think not enough happens, but you know that every little moment builds up to the big moments.
If either golf team is your favorite team, you should watch The Stepford Wives. Preppy terror!
If lacrosse is your favorite team, you should watch Tragedy Girls because nothing screams “tragedy girl” more than always losing in championship games only :(
If rowing is your favorite team, you should watch Birdbox because the characters spend a not insignificant amount of time actually rowing!
If sailing is your favorite team, you should watch Jaws. Duh.
If skiing is your favorite team, you should watch Black Christmas (2019). Horror plus a snowy winter setting!
If men’s soccer is your favorite team you should watch Final Destination. We obviously fully support postponing the season for player safety during COVID, but it also has the same “just delaying the inevitable” energy as trying to escape fate in this movie franchise.
If women’s soccer is your favorite team you should watch Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark because you probably became a soccer fan when you were a kid and you’ll like the nostalgia. Also it has good autumn energy.
If swimming & diving is your favorite team, you should watch Swimfan. Self-explanatory! (Honorable mention to Crawl, which is also about a swimmer and is a better movie IMO!)
If either tennis team is your favorite, you should watch Hush. You’re used to a quiet atmosphere and won’t be thrown off by the silence in this film.
If volleyball is your favorite team, you should watch Jennifer’s Body. Way more powerful than it gets credit for, just like volleyball as a sport.
