The Boston College women’s volleyball team fell to 0-7 on their fall season on Friday night after being swept 3-0 by Notre Dame. The Eagles fought back to make the second and third sets difficult for the Irish, but ultimately came up short and remain winless with just one match remaining in the fall season.

Notre Dame took the first game by a convincing 25-17, pulling away from BC early in the game. After an even start by both teams saw the score tied at 7-7, Notre Dame went on a long run to take a commanding 18-10 lead that they would not relinquish. A short, three-point BC run gave the Eagles some hope, but it was not enough and the Irish took the first game.

Game two looked to be even worse early on for BC, with Notre Dame building a 10-6 lead that the Eagles struggled to close. BC made another late push in this game, scoring three straight points to cut a 21-16 lead to just 21-19 but Notre Dame rallied to take the next three points themselves and took game 2 25-20.

The script was almost exactly the same in game three for the Eagles, as Notre Dame again built a big lead. After the two teams played to a 12-12 tie, the Irish scored 10 of the next 14 points to open a 22-16 lead. BC came storming back, however, winning six straight points to tie the game at 22 before the two sides split the next to for a 23-23 score. That was as close as BC would get to taking a game, however, as Notre Dame took the next two points to take the game 25-23 and sweep the Eagles.

Now at 0-7, BC will have one more chance to grab a win in their fall campaign, as they take on Notre Dame again tomorrow night at 8:00 PM
