This evening the Boston College women’s soccer team was shut out by Notre Dame, opening the season with a 2-0 loss to the Fighting Irish.
Senior captain Sammi Fisher scored the Irish’s first goal unassisted at the 13 minute mark, and a cross and finish by Kiki Van Zanten put the Fighting Irish up by 2 just under 35 minutes into the game. The Eagles struggled to even get a shot on net tonight and ended up being outshot 19-5, with only 3 of BC’s shots on goal.
Sophomore goalie Allie Augur had a strong showing for BC, making 8 saves - a career high. On offensive, Jenna Bike was BC’s leader with a pair of shots on goal.
The Eagles now head to Louisville, where they will face the Cardinals on Sunday. The Cardinals are currently 2-1 with a pair of 3-0 wins over Miami and Syracuse and a 1-0 loss to FSU.
