Another member of Jeff Hafley’s coaching staff has been named. Aazar Abdul-Rahim, who spent the past season as the defensive coordinator at UMass, will be moving to the other side of the “Battle of the Bay State.”
Abdul-Rahim is rated as a top-notch recruiter and has had solid coaching experience. The DC native was the head coach Friendship Collegiate Academy from 2004-2013 before jumping ship to be a defensive analyst at the University of Alabama and then an Assistant Director of Player Personnel. Alabama was in a strong “We want Bama” form during his time. After his two seasons there, Abdul-Rahim became a secondary coach at Maryland. He made a great impact on the recruiting front there in his three seasons, giving the school a top-30 class and creating a disruptive defense.
Jeff Hafley on Coach Abdul-Rahim:
“Aazaar is one of the top recruiters in college football and will be a tremendous addition to our program,” Hafley said. “He was with Coach Saban at Alabama working with the defensive backs and most recently comes to us from UMass where he was defensive coordinator. Aazaar is what we are all about: he has high character and is someone who loves people. We are excited to add a great football coach like Aazaar to our BC football family.”
He will surely help continue to open the recruiting in the DC metro area, where BC has only scratched the surface.
In other news, Special Teams Coordinator, Ricky Brown, will not be returning to the staff. Additionally ICYMI Phil Matusz was named the new Strength & Conditioning coach earlier this week, also coming from Ohio State.
Welcome to the Heights, Coach(es)!
