The Boston College women’s basketball fought hard today, playing nearly even with top 10 Louisville in 3 out of 4 quarters of play and falling to the Cardinals by just 11 points for a final score of 81-70. A loss is a loss, but this is an impressive outing for an underdog team.
The Cardinals led just 19-18 after the first quarter, but pulled away in the second outscoring BC 21-12 and taking a 40-30 lead into halftime. That 10 point difference proved insurmountable to the Eagles, despite being outscored by just 2 points in the third quarter and by a single point in the final quarter.
BC also held fairly even with Louisville on rebounds, with the Cardinals holding a 28-24 lead there. Additionally, the Eagles limited themselves to 15 turnovers which is low for this squad.
The Eagles were led by Makayla Dickens, who recorded 20 points and 6 assists. Emma Guy added 19 points and 7 rebounds, freshman Jaelyn Batts scored 10 points, and Taylor Soule led the team with 8 rebounds and added 9 points.
