Name: Ben Finkelstein

Number: 6

Position: Defenseman

Class Year: Senior

Drafted: #195 by the Florida Panthers in 2016

Background: Finkelstein joined the Eagles as a transfer from St. Lawrence last season and played in 22 games for BC. He recorded 10 points for the Eagles (1 G, 9 A), and his only goal was a game-winner against UConn in February. Finkelstein took only 3 penalties the entire season, a huge plus for a team that has run into some penalty problems during the past few seasons. Finkelstein is a strong skater who has the skills to set up more scoring opportunities than we saw this season.

2019-20 Outlook: This year, BC’s defensive corps are made up of 3 freshmen, 1 junior, and 4 seniors. There are some pretty skilled freshman joining the squad, but Finkelstein is one of the stronger returning defensemen and should expect to see fairly significant playing time and will likely take on a leadership role amongst the defenders. Finkelstein did not produce offensively at BC on the level that he has on previous teams (34 points in 23 games for the Waterloo Black Hawks in 2017-18, 70 points for Kimball Union Academy in 2015-16), so hopefully he will also contribute more as a two-way defenseman this season and will help the Eagles increase their scoring opportunities in addition to playing solid defense.

Fun Fact: Finkelstein had never been to Florida before being drafted by the Panthers and attending development camp. (x)
