The Boston College field hockey team suffered its second 3-2 loss of the season today, falling to #15 Northwestern after the Wildcats scored 2 goals within 30 seconds during the fourth quarter. This was BC’s third loss in a row, and the Eagles now have a 1-3 record as they head back to Newton this week to face Dartmouth and Northeastern.
The Eagles led today’s game in shots (17-9) and shots on goal (9-5), but were unable to best Northwestern’s goalie enough to come away with a victory.
The Wildcats struck first, scoring about 10 minutes into the first quarter, but Margo Carlin tied things up with just a second remaining in the first quarter to tie things up. This was the freshman forward’s third goal of the season.
Junior Fusine Govaert gave BC the 2-1 lead in the third, after a scoreless second quarter. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Northwestern staged a fourth quarter comeback, scoring the game tying and game winning goal in under a minute.
BC has a 2 non-conference games at home next weekend before the Eagles head to North Carolina on September 20 to start the ACC slate at Wake Forest.
