Game Day Facts

WHO

Boston College Eagles (1-0) vs
Richmond Spider (1-0)

WHAT

BC comes off a strong performance against Virginia Tech to take on another team from Virginia, the Spiders of the University of Richmond. There were concerns that Hurricane Dorian might disrupt this game but at the time of writing this article, kickoff is still set to occur at 3:30 pm at Alumni Stadium. The Eagles will look to continue their winning ways with what should be a chance to iron out some of the kinks on both sides of the ball and give BC’s younger players a chance to get some game experience.

WHERE

Alumni Stadium
Chestnut Hill, MA

WHEN

September 7th, 2019
Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm EST

HOW TO WATCH

The game is going to be broadcast on the ACC Network’s “Extra” service, which is essentially ESPN3 for ACC Network subscribers — an online stream. Click here for a direct link to the stream. You can also access the game via the ESPN app on mobile.

Note that if your TV provider does not have the ACC Network, you won’t be able to watch ACC Network Extra — you’ll need to log in with your provider’s credentials to watch the game. As of now, Cox, DirecTV, Dish, Fios, and Spectrum carry the ACC Network on one of their packages.

You can also get ACC Network with one of these streaming options:

Hulu + Live TV
YouTube TV
Playstation Vue (Core)
Sling TV (Orange Sports Extra)

HOW TO WATCH IF YOU HAVE XFINITY OR SOME OTHER PROVIDER THAT HATES YOU

If you haven’t used it yet, you should sign up for a free trial of “Hulu + Live TV” today to get access to both today’s game against Richmond as well as Friday’s game against Kansas.

Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and Playstation Vue all have free trial periods. YouTube and Vue are both 5 day trials, while Hulu gives you a seven day test run. That means since BC has two games in six games, you can get both games in the same trail period, and use the other trial options for future games.

EDIT: YouTube TV is offering a brand new free 3 week trial run for new subscribers as well.

Sling TV has a different trial structure where it lets you try Sling TV for $15 for a month, which certainly isn’t a bad deal either. It’s another option should you need to use it.

HOW TO LISTEN

The radio broadcast will be on the BC IMG Sports Network, which is 95.7FM 850AM this week, thanks to the Red Sox.

BC’s Best Chance to Win

Don’t turn the ball over excessively, don’t commit too many penalties, don’t miss your assignments, and play with at least eleven players on the field at all time. Tomorrow, it may not just be the rain that washes the spiders out. Richmond surrendered 32.64 points per game last season and BC’s offense looked as prolific as we’ve seen it in a very long time against Virginia Tech. If AJ Dillon and Anthony Brown are out of the game by the fourth quarter, at the latest, then we’ll know the Eagles are on track. This is a great opportunity for BC to get a look at some of their younger players, continue to develop some of their new starters, and perfect some of the up-tempo schemes that they showed off against Virginia Tech.

This game sits dangerously between a big conference game against Virginia Tech and a big out of conference matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks. Richmond will have nothing to lose and certainly will play like it but as long as BC plays their game this should be an easy win for the Eagles.
