Name: Michael Karow

Number: 2

Position: Defenseman

Class Year: Junior

Drafted: No. 126, 2017 (Arizona Coyotes)

Background: Michael Karow has turned into a reliable defensive-defenseman that has spent a lot of time on the third defensive pairing with Connor Moore. The expectation for Karow going into his career was that he was going to be a player that generated a lot of assists. While that hasn’t necessarily panned out (his assists dropped from six to two from his freshman to sophomore year) he has put in a lot of gritty minutes. Karow is a guy who had a lot of blocked shots on the year (33 which was good for fourth-best on the team).

2019-20 Outlook: Karow will be a player that should be expected to play a lot of solid minutes during the 2019-20 campaign. Karow has turned into a more defensive-minded player, although it’s reasonable to wonder with the departures on the blue line if his role will change.

Fun Fact: Karow’s father, Charles, played football at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
