The Boston College field hockey team dropped a pair of matches to top 15 teams this week, falling to #6 Louisville 2-3 on Friday and losing to #11 Saint Joseph’s this afternoon. The Eagles are now 4-5 overall this season and 1-1 in ACC play.
The Eagles took an early lead in Friday’s game thanks to a Jaime Natale goal in front of the net just eight minutes into the game. This was the only goal until the beginning of the third period, when Louisville tied things up. Margo Carlin deflected a Natale corner into the net to regain the lead for BC, but Louisville went on to score a two more goals in the third for a final score of 3-2 Cardinals.
The Eagles suffered another heartbreaker this afternoon, losing by a single goal yet again. Freshman Charlotte Von Huelsen scored the first goal of the game, giving BC the lead nine minutes into the game. The Hawks followed up with a pair of goals to take a lead into the second period, but Brigid Wood scored a breakaway goal in the second to tie things up heading into halftime. Margo Carlin put BC ahead by one just two minutes into the second half, but Saint Joseph’s tied things up four minutes later. Carlin tipped a Jaime Natale shot into net four minutes after that, but Saint Joseph’s ended the game with two goals, securing victory.
BC returns to action next Friday at UVA.
