Meet The Eagles, Boston College Men’s Hockey: Jack Moffatt

Moffat is one of two freshman goalies this season

NCAA Football: Notre Dame at Boston College Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

Name: Jack Moffatt

Number: 31

Position: Goalie

Class Year: Freshman

Drafted: N/A

Background: Moffatt is one of two freshman goaltenders joining the Eagles this season, along with “generational talent” Spencer Knight. Hailing from Wellesley, MA, Moffatt has spent the past two seasons playing at St. Sebastian’s. Moffatt saw action in 9 games for St. Seb’s last season, recording a 1.92 GAA and a save percentage of .912.

2019-20 Outlook: Moffatt will be the third string goalie this season, and likely won’t see playing time barring injuries. Spencer Knight, who was drafted 13th overall in this summer’s NHL Entry Draft will be Boston College’s starting goaltender. Senior Ryan Edquist, who was a solid backup for Joe Woll, will also likely see a decent amount of time in net this season, depending on how quickly Knight adjusts to the NCAA.

Fun Fact: His cousin Courtney Hyland plays hockey at Harvard, and both his sister and father rowed crew at Georgetown.
