There were a couple of chances early on in the first period, but Boston College gets on the board just after the thirtieth minute when Emily Langenderfer chips the ball into the box and Sam Smith takes a touch to beat two defenders and buries it into the bottom left corner. Three minutes later Smith tallies yet another goal when Riley Lochhead drives the ball to the end of the pitch and sends a low cross just in front of the goal. Smith taps the ball into the net right past the goalie for what will later be the game winning goal.
For the third time in less than ten minutes there’s a score change, but this time it’s Princeton on the board. In a fast moving sequence, the ball is headed into the box, saved by Augur, but then back-heeled just past to set up Princeton’s Caroline Noonan for a shot through traffic. The score at the half is 2-1 BC and will remain that will through the end of the game. Augur comes up big with two major saves, including a potential game changer with ten minutes left to play.
The Eagles win their fourth consecutive game, and Augur is now 3-0-0 in her rookie season. They return to the Heights this Thursday, September 5 to play Northeastern University at 7pm and hope to continue their streak at home.
