Name: David Cotton
Number: 17
Position: Forward
Class Year: Senior
Drafted: #169 by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2015
Background: Cotton was BC’s top player last season, recording a team leading 36 points, 23 goals, 136 shots on goal, 8 power play goals, and 4 game winning goals. As a sophomore, he was also one of the top players on the team with a team high 19 assists and a respectable 28 points. Cotton was one of the bright spots in what was at times a really rough season to watch last year, playing with consistency and skill that was unfortunately missing elsewhere.
2019-20 Outlook: Cotton will officially take on a leadership role this year as BC’s captain, although he definitely has been a leader throughout his time at BC even without the title. He should remain a mainstay of the top line and of BC’s special teams, and likely will be matched up with at least one of the highly ranked incoming freshmen forwards. Matching Cotton with any of the young prolific scorers coming in this season could do some really exciting things for BC’s results.
Fun Fact: Many expected Cotton to turn pro after last season and are now speculating that since he didn’t, he may wait for the August deadline so he can sign with a team other than Carolina.
