The game was a close one, with both sides keeping the pressure up and playing to both ends of the pitch. Though scoreless in the first half, Allie Augur managed some major saves, including one rushing save all the way to the top of the box to boot the ball out of danger. In the last ten minutes, Providence College gets a breakaway and shot off, but Augur just gets her hands on it. The ball hits the crossbar and bounces out for the Eagles defense to clear away.

A little over ten minutes into the second, Gianna Mitchell gets her third goal of the season, another gorgeous header into the netting. BC keeps the game moving but in the last two minutes the Friars are awarded a free kick on the right wing. PC’s Hannah McNulty was able to get her head on it and Augur gets a hand on it, but just past the goal line. The game moves into overtime where each side gets a few attempts in, but no change in score.

In the Eagle’s first tie of the season, Augur walks away with five saves, a career-high, and Sam Smith tallies her first career assist. Boston College hits the road next week, taking on Mississippi State this Sunday, Sept. 15 at 12:30pm, before traveling down to Florida State on Thursday for their first ACC game.
