Boston College Names Amy Kvilhaug Softball Coach

New head coach joins the Eagles from St. John’s

The Boston College softball team has found their new head coach, as Amy Kvilhaug was announced as the fifth head coach in program history earlier on Tuesday. The Eagles had a difficult season in 2018-19, going just 18-35 overall and 4-20 in ACC play, after which Ashley Obrest resigned from the head coaching role.

Kvilhaug joins the Eagles after spending the last 12 seasons as the head coach of St. John’s. During her time there, St. John’s reached seven Big East Tournaments and made their first in the NCAA Tournament in more than three decades in 2015. Kvilhaug has more than 400 wins on her resume and was a member of the 2017 Big East coaching staff of the year, after St. John’s won their second Big East regular season title in three years.

Kvilhaug will be inheriting a team that had a rough season last year, but that won at least 30 games in four of the five years prior. Congratulations to Amy and best of luck going forward!
