Boston College Women’s Hockey announced its incoming freshmen class Thursday, with six new Eagles joining the roster as members of the class of [/check notes] 2023 (!! I am ancient).
BC’s newest Eagles are:
Hannah Bilka (Forward)
Caroline DiFiore (Forward)
Alexie Guay (Defense)
Hadley Hartmetz (Defense)
Deirdre Mullowney (Defense)
Abby YOLO!!! Volo (Forward)
Check out BCEagles.com for a breakdown of each player. But three of the incoming freshmen — Bilka, Guay, and Hartmetz — played for their nation’s U18 national team. All six, however, will be asked to make an impact right off the bat.
The Eagles lost four of their top defenders to graduation this year, so the three incoming D are going to have to slot right in. And with the loss of two of the team’s top forwards to transfer on top of three additional forwards graduating, BC will be looking for offense from the youth movement.
This will be a different kind of year for the Eagles — despite losing a lot of production to graduation and transfer, the incoming class is at least as strong as any BC’s had in the past, and the recruiting pipeline remains incredibly strong. It will be exciting to see how the team reloads with a new young core.
Welcome to the Heights, new Eagles!
