Boston College GIF of the Year: Quarterfinals, Matchup #4

GIF me just one night (una noche)

Miami v Boston College

We’ve reached the final quarterfinal matchup for this year’s BC GIF of the Year tournament! In our penultimate matchup of the round from yesterday, we witnessed Sam Apuzzo do what she typically does to opponents that stand in her way, which is to say she completely vaporized them — Makayla Dickens thrilling 2OT win to a thrilling 2OT couldn’t do anything to hold off Apuzzo’s own 2OT winner to send the Eagles to the NCAA championship game.

Let’s move right along and see which of today’s two GIFs will match up with the Apuzzo Abuzzsaw next week:

There weren’t too many super high moments from the men’s hockey season, but one of the real positives was how much the Eagles comprehensively dominated Providence College — who ended up 4th in the USCHO poll. BC went 4-2-0 against the Friars, including a dramatic series win in the Hockey East quarterfinals.

In BC’s final regular season win against the Friars — a 4-1 victory that was one of their strongest victories of the season — David Cotton picked up a turnover in the neutral zone and came in for one hell of a beautiful cut-and-snipe to make the game 2-0 in the first. BC would never look back from there on the way to the win.

Women’s Lacrosse’s national championship push was expected. Women’s Hockey’s postseason push was expected. Even men’s hockey’s ride to the Men’s Hockey East Championship Game was the hope before the season really went awry. But BC Baseball’s upsets to pull off a group victory in Pool A of the ACC Tournament was probably the biggest flat-out stunner of the whole season in BC Athletics.

The Eagles took down both Clemson and top-ranked Louisville to clinch the pool victory and advance to the ACC semifinals, and the ACC captured Dan Metzdorf & co.’s excitement after their win over the Cardinals. A great moment for sure, but a moment that also makes for a great GIF — an “X” factor that not all of the entries in this competition can boast.

Here’s your updated bracket going into the final matchup of the week:

The vote for this matchup will end at 11:30am EDT on Friday. We’ll be back on Monday to kick off the semifinal round!
