For the second year in a row, Ky Bowman is BCInterruption’s Male Fan Favorite award winner. Bowman wins this award against fierce competition posed by the face of the football team, AJ Dillon, as well as the hockey team’s Mattila twins, Logan Hutsko, and David Cotton.
In covering the team this year, I’ve basically run out of words to describe Bowman. The All-ACC guard was a walking highlight reel of big shots, emphatic blocks, and thunderous dunks. At any time he was capable of doing anything.
But while being fun to watch certainly helped him become a fan favorite, most important was how he did it. There was no sacrifice Bowman wasn’t willing to make for the team, playing nearly every minute of every game. He contorted his body in ways impossible for most people and violently crashed the boards, fighting for every rebound and steal he could. In a year with not a lot to cheer for at Conte Forum, Bowman alone was worth the price of admission to a men’s basketball game.
Sadly for us (but hopefully good for him!) Bowman leaves the Heights this year to enter the NBA draft. After three years of service to Boston College, the most dynamic guard in the country should have a chance to represent BC and make money at the next level. Congrats Ky and best of luck going forward!
