For the third year in a row, BC Interruption is honoring Acacia Walker-Weinstein with our Coach of the Year award. Walker-Weinstein beat out new BC volleyball coach Jason Kennedy and BC baseball coach Mike Gambino for this honor.
Walker-Weinstein continues to coach Boston College women’s lacrosse to greatness, even though the ACC Championship and NCAA Championship trophies still elude her. For the second year running, Walker-Weinstein coached the Eagles to an undefeated regular season. This included some blowouts, but some amazing comebacks as well, including a double overtime victory over UNC to get to the NCAA Championship and last minute win over Syracuse to reach the ACC Championship.
Walker-Weinstein has turned the BC women’s lacrosse program into one of the top programs in the country. Even as she loses the talent of superstars like Sam Apuzzo, Elizabeth Miller, Kenzie Kent, and Dempsey Arsenault to graduation, the Eagles have players ready to step up and try to fill their roles - players like Cara Urbank, Sheila Rietano, Kate Taylor, and Jenn Medjid.
