After a stellar senior season, pitcher Dan Metzdorf was selected in the 5th round, the 140th overall pick, by the Chicago White Sox. After going 1-8 with a 5.74 ERA as a junior, Metzdorf found a groove in his final season on the Heights, posting an 8-2 record with a 2.30 ERA. Metzdorf was named to the All-ACC First Team, and All-America Third Team.
The Washington Nationals scooped up third baseman Jake Alu in the 24th round. Alu batted .343 with 40 RBIs in 58 games in his senior season, earning him All-ACC Third Team honors.
Finally, the Cincinnati Reds took junior Matt Gill in the 27th round. Over the course of the season Gill morphed into BC’s closer. He finished the year 3-3 with 6 saves and a 6.90 ERA.
