The winner of this year’s BCI “Off the Field/Ice/Court Moment of the Year” can only be one event: the return of College GameDay to the Heights. After a 9-year hiatus, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit shipped up to Boston for the Eagles’ clash with Clemson. The Eagles entered the day ranked #17, hot off a big win against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg and carrying only one conference loss. The second ranked Tigers, unsurprisingly, came in having dominated like they did all season. The ACC, for a brief instant, was up for grabs.
GameDay hasn’t had a lot of reasons to come to Chestnut Hill, having come only two times prior. BC fans were ready though for their shot in the primetime. Despite the cold, the atmosphere was electric, the signs were witty, and it. was. loud. Just look at the hype.

Unfortunately the game became just another win on Clemson’s perfect championship resume. BC jumped out to an early lead behind a Michael Walker punt return TD. But an early injury to QB Anthony Brown killed the offensive game plan and the team never recovered, losing 27-7. But this award isn’t about the game, its about the celebration of football that occurred on campus and the chance to see BC in the biggest game of the week.
