Boston College hockey alumnus Steve Santini has been traded to the Nashville Predators from the New Jersey Devils in a deal that sends PK Subban to New Jersey. The Devils are sending Santini, Jeremy Davis, the #34 pick in the year’s NHL Draft, and a second round pick in the 2020 Draft in exchange for Subban.

Santini, who played defense at Boston College for 3 years before going pro, has spent the past three seasons (his entire pro career) in the Devils organization. He split his first two seasons between the AHL and NHL, but spent most of the season in the NHL in 2019-20. Santini recorded 4 points in 39 NHL games this year. A defensive defenseman, he adds toughness and grit to whatever team he is on.

On Nashville’s part, this is likely a move to clear up cap space, as Subban is one of the faces of the league.

Best of luck to Santini on his new squad!
