Top goaltending prospect Spencer Knight has been drafted 13th overall by the Florida panthers. Knight joins fellow Eagle Mike Matheson on the Panthers squad when he goes pro.
Knight, as was projected, is the first goaltender chosen in this year’s NHL Draft. The 18 year old prospect from Connecticut has spent the past two seasons with the USNTP after playing a season at Avon Old Farms. This past season, Knight played 33 games for the U.S. National U18 Team, recording a goals against average of 2.36 and a save percentage of .913. In the U18 Worlds, he had an impressive .936 save percentage.
The Eagles have been lucky to have a string of stellar goalies over the years, and while Knight won’t be able to singlehandedly turn this team around, like Joe Woll before him he should be able to save some games for BC.
Congrats to Knight on being drafted by the Panthers!
