The BCI Apple Tournament: (2) Pink Lady v. (7) Gala

A few days ago (3) Granny Smith stymied (11) Ambrosia’s Cinderella run in decisive fashion, earning a berth in the semifinal. Now all we have left is the 1 and 2 seed reveals.

Before moving on, it should be noted that our two remaining apples, Pink Lady and Honeycrisp, finished in a tie in our writers’ poll. The tie was broken on reciprocals, so Honeycrisp will be considered the (1) seed and Pink Lady will take the (2) seed.

So, let’s apple.

(7) Gala

This is a battle of two of my favorite apples, though I would give the edge to the Pink Lady. Both are fantastic apples to eat raw, and are very flavorful. Gala tends to be the less expensive apple, but Pink Lady fans would ardently say that it’s worth the money.
