The BCI Apple Tournament: (3) Granny Smith v. (11) Ambrosia

Well we now made it to the second matchup of the second round.

Yesterday Fiji completed the first upset of the second round, knocking down (4) Cortland decidedly to continue its march through the tournament. Fiji certainly will be a force to be reckoned with moving forward.

Here’s today’s matchup:

(3) Granny Smith

v.

(11) Ambrosia

Ambrosia completed the first upset of the tournament last week, knocking out (6) Mcintosh by one vote. Now Ambrosia will try to continue its Cinderella run against a powerhouse in Granny Smith.

Granny Smiths are the most unusual apple of this bracket, notable both for its tart taste and green skin. That said, Granny Smiths have a bit of a cult following. They’ve spawned the green apple Jolly Rancher and Skittle flavors. And who could forget the Green Apple flavor from Rita’s Water Ice.

Granny Smith will be a tough force to be reckoned with. Will Ambrosia be up for the challenge?
