Coach Mike Gambino and his staff assembled themselves an impressive core of young talent that should keep Boston College baseball on the rise over the next few years. Sal Frelick, Mason Pelio, and Cody Morissette were each named to the ACC All-Freshman Team, which is really astounding given that only one other player has made the ACC All-Freshman Team in BC history (Chris Galland in 2018).
You could make a strong case for any member of that trio. While an unfortunate knee injury shelved Frelick for the final month of the season, and Pelio slipped a bit towards the end of the year, Morissette put together a remarkably consistent freshman campaign. His season culminated in a breakout performance in his ACC Tournament debut against Clemson, when he went three for six with two home runs and three RBIs.
Morissette started all 59 games that BC played, mainly at second base, and hit .320 with 20 doubles, 4 home runs, 41 RBIs, 74 runs scored, and 8 stolen bases. In addition to All-Freshman honors, he was named to the All-ACC Second Team and the NEIBA All-New England First Team.
