The Boston College women’s team was knocked out of their first NCAA Tournament since 1997 earlier today after losing to #23 Florida 4-1. Ending the season with a loss is always disappointing, but this has still be a hugely successful season for the Eagles, who had their winningest season in years with a final record of 16-11.
Senior Jackie Urbinati in particular ended her time at BC on a strong note, defeating Victoria Emma in singles with straight 6-2 sets and taking a 5-3 lead over #23 doubles pair McCartney Kessler and Victoria Emma before the match was called due to Florida winning both other doubles matches.
Sophomore Natasha Irani and junior Elene Tsokilauri also had decent showings for the Eagles - both were on their way to tying up their singles matches when they were called.
With the entire team minus Urbinati returning next year, the Eagles should continue to improve in 2019-2020. Congrats to the Eagles on a great season!
