Earlier this week, Boston College announced that BC softball head coach Ashley Obrest had resigned from her position. Obrest had a 200-219 overall record while at BC, with her best season as head coach occurring in 2017 when the Eagles went 31-22 overall and 14-9 in the ACC. This past season BC had an overall record of 18-35 and won just 4 ACC games. This was BC’s worst season since 2013, which was Obrest’s second with the team.
Assistant coach Megan Brown will serve as interim head coach until Martin Jarmond and his staff hire a new head coach. This will be Jarmond’s 4th major women’s head coaching hire since taking over as BC’s athletic director. He hired women’s basketball coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee and volleyball coach Jason Kennedy, both of seem to be good choices after one season, and he recently hired Jason Lowe to take over the women’s soccer team.
