Coming off a big ServPro First Responder’s Bowl victory last season, the Boston College Eagles are slated for an action-packed season up ahead.

Two games now have TV homes and a start time.

The Boston College Eagles will take on the Virginia Tech Hokies Aug. 31 at 4 PM, and will be televised on the new ACC Network.

Additionally, the game against Kansas on Sept. 13 will be played at 7:30 PM and will be shown on the ACC Network.

These start times and TV homes are good news and bad news. The Va. Tech game is wonderful: a 4 PM start time is ideal, just late enough where people won’t be pressed to get to the game to tailgate, and early enough to not be a particularly late night at Alumni Stadium. Additionally, assuming ESPN can figure out distribution for the ACC Network (Altice, DIRECTV, Google Fiber, Hulu Live TV, Optimum, PlayStation Vue, Suddenlink,TVision and Verizon Fios are currently signed on), the national distribution will be a big plus.

With that said, the game against Kansas leaves a little bit to be desired. Friday night games are typically not as popular amongst fans for many reasons (the late night, the traffic in Boston, tailgating after the game being curtailed) but they have become a necessary evil in this collegiate football media landscape. With that said, the tradeoff becomes worth it if it means thee are a lot of eyes on the game. As good as the ACC Network should be (and there is a lot to be excited about), it stings to not be on one of the mainline ESPN networks. With that said, it’s hard to hate getting national attention for both games.

It should be noted that the game against Notre Dame will still be played on Nov. 23 at 2:30 on NBC.
