Boston College Women’s Lacrosse Survives Late Scare, Downs No. 21 Virginia Tech 16-13

Mike Gridley, BC Athletics

Well, no one an say that the Eagles aren’t earning their now 15 game winning streak.

BC survived a late 5-0 run by No. 21 Virginia Tech over the last 6:06 of the game to win 16-13 to preserve its unbeaten season.

The Eagles’ attack once again was strong, with four players recording a hat trick. Additionally, in addition to her three goals, Sam Apuzzo registered three assists in the effort.

The game was the end of a five game stretch of the Eagles playing ranked opponents. The Eagles were able to emerge from that stretch unscathed, and solidified their position as front-runners not only for the ACC title but possibly the national title.

The game against Virginia Tech will be the Eagles’ last away from the friendly confines of the Heights before the NCAA tournament. The Eagles have two more home games to close out the regular season, with senior day being played in Alumni Stadium, before the Eagles will compete for the ACC tournament, which will be played at Alumni Stadium.
