Casey Fitzgerald, who was drafted 86th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has signed with the team following the conclusion of BC’s season. Fitzgerald has signed a two year, entry level contract and will report to the Sabres’ AHL team, the Rochester Americans, on an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of this year.

Fitzgerald was a two year captain at BC and showed strong leadership on a young team. Fitzgerald scored 20+ points in his freshman and sophomore campaigns, and recorded 14 points this past season. Fitzgerald was a frequent fixture for BC’s special teams, and his willingness to play rough will appeal to Amerks fans.

Fitzgerald joins his brother, fellow BC alum Ryan Fitzgerald, in the AHL - although Ryan plays a little bit closer to home for the Providence Bruins. Casey is the only Eagle currently playing in the Sabres organization, although he will join a number of other Hockey East alumni.
