The Toronto Maple Leafs announced this evening that they have signed Boston College goaltender Joseph Woll to a 3 year entry level contract. The signing shouldn’t come as a surprise to BC hockey fans who have watched Woll pull out amazing save after amazing save as an Eagle.

Woll, who finished his junior season as an Eagle this weekend, was drafted 62nd overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Despite BC’s difficult 2018-19 season, Woll had a phenomenal year, recording a .923 save percentage as the team’s starting goalie.

While losing Woll is obviously a blow to the team, BC remains in good hands with Ryan Edquist, one of the better back-up goalies in the NCAA. Additionally, top goalie prospect Spencer Knight (currently with the USNTDP) is set to join the Eagles next fall.

We wish Woll the best of luck as he pursues a professional hockey career. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!
