Boston College traveled to Atlanta, GA to compete in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge this weekend, getting matched up with the Michigan State Spartans and the Illinois Fightin’ Illini.
In game one against the Spartans, Camryn Dolby picked up her first collegiate victory, giving up no earned runs over 5.2 innings. In a game that saw ten errors between the two teams, Lexi DiEmmanuelle and Emme Martinez both went 5 for 6 in the game, combining for 10 of the Eagles’ 17 hits in the game en route to the first win of the season.
Against Illinois, Jenna Ergle hit her first home run of the young season, but Kendra Freidt gave up six runs in her only inning of work as the Eagles were mercy ruled. Carly Severini and Olivia Markopolous each drove in runs for the Eagles in the 12-3 loss.
In game two against MSU, Camryn Dolby was strong for the second straight outing, giving up two earned over four innings, striking out six Spartans in the process. Lexi DiEmmanuelle and Ellie Mataya each went 3-4 on the day and combined to drive in 3 in the 7-6 win.
Dolby started game four again, but was roughed up a little bit, giving up five runs over two innings of work as the Illini got off to a hot start. Kristin Giery had her first home run of the season and Ellie Mataya had another multi hit game, but Illinois was able to win 7-3.
Now 2-6 on the season, BC will travel to North Carolina to take on ECU and James Madison next weekend.
