BC quarterback Anthony Brown has entered the NCAA transfer portal. It’s completely fair of Brown to want to get ahead of the game and test the waters, but his decision comes before the announcement of a new head coach. As he indicated on his own Twitter account though, he still has the option of returning. If the coaching decision comes soon enough, there will surely be a conversation between the two parties to discuss the future. Brown has the right to withdraw his name, but BC would not have to obligate his scholarship either.
This would leave Dennis Grosel, Matt Valecce, Sam Johnson, and Daelen Menard as the quarterbacks on the current roster.
This would be a graduate transfer and a chance for Brown to start fresh and extend his career. Before his season ending injury, the New Jersey native was having himself a career year. As a 3-year starter, Brown has 4,738 yards and 40 touchdowns. Unfortunately, his career has been marred by injuries, including two season-ending ACL tears.
That’s a pretty sizable list of BC QB transfers in the Addazio era. Darius Wade, Johnny Lanagan, EJ Perry, Matt McDonald, ?Troy Flutie, all left the team, and Jeff Smith of course converted to wide receiver. Patrick Towles and Tyler Murphy were of course transfers in their own rights. John Fadule might have been the only one to make it all the way through. Intriguing.
