Obviously winning a national championship title is a huge and exciting moment, and the 2010 NCAA Championship won by the men’s hockey team is our #3 moment of the decade. In the run-up to the National Championship BC won the Beanpot and the Hockey East Tournament. The Eagles ended the season with a 29-10-3 record.
The road to the Frozen Four was a little bit wild, with BC taking a 3-1 victory over Alaska in the first game of regionals and a 9-7 win over Yale to earn a trip to the Frozen Four. The Eagles defeated Miami (Ohio) 7-1 in the semifinals and then shut out Wisconsin 5-0 in the Championship game. John Muse made 20 saves in the win, and Chris Kreider scored a pair of goals for the Eagles. Ben Smith opened the scoring for the Eagles (scoring the gamewinner), and Cam Atkinson and Matt Price closed out the BC goals.
This would end up being BC’s third NCAA Championship in 6 years, winning in 2008, 2010, and 2012.
It’s rare to win a NCAA title, and even rarer to be such a clear winner, besting the competition easily. That’s what makes this the third best BC moment of the decade.
