Sophomores Evan Stewart and Aaron Gethers have both announced they are entering the NCAA transfer portal, amidst the departure of Steve Addazio.
Stewart was a three-star safety prospect out of St. Joseph’s Regional New Jersey. He redshirted his freshman year, and was listed as a linebacker this season, appearing in one game. Stewart’s most likely destination seems to be Rutgers at the moment.
Gethers was also a three-star defensive back prospect out of Bishop McDevitt in Pennsylvania, the same high school as wide receiver Kobay White. He was a top DB prospect out of the state his year. He also redshirted last season in his freshman year, and appeared in five games this season. He held offers from Buffalo, Albany, and a few others before choosing BC.
You hate to see this, but exactly what you’d expect with the loss of a coach and for guys that are newer to the program. If Addazio finds a new landing spot soon, more guys will definitely follow. Remember, the next head coach will certainly bring in some of his own players in any case as well, just as a handful followed OC Scot Loeffler to Bowling Green last year. It’s the natural cycle of things, so the world is not on fire. We’ll be posting updates on all of the transfer news that might pop up in the coming days.
