Boston College Field Hockey Defeats Wake Forest to Move Forward in 2019 ACC Tournament

Sarah Dwyer didn’t face a single shot in the BC victory

The Boston College field hockey team completely shut down Wake Forest today in the first round of the ACC Tournament, defeating the Demon Deacons 2-0 and allowing 0 shots on goal. This is the first time BC has held an opponent to 0 SOG since 2011, and it earned goalie Sarah Dwyer her seventh shutout of the year.

Freshman Darcy Clement scored BC’s first (and game-winning goal) at 28:54 off of a corner. This was Clement’s first goal as an Eagle. Jaime Natale scored on an empty net with just a second remaining in the game to bump the final score to 2-0 Eagles. The was Natale’s 11th point of the season, a new career high. Margo Carlin assisted on the goal for her 40th assist of the year and is now one of only eight players in program history to record 40+ assists in a single season.

The Eagles will now face Virginia tomorrow at 3:30 PM. UVA defeated #5 Duke in their game today.
